With over a decade of experience in private education, Mr. Gutzwiller has served as an adjunct professor at Azusa Pacific University, ACSI District Representative, and Chairman of the ACSI Commission on Accreditation, which serves over 5,500 schools worldwide. <image:title>Meet The Team - Jeremiah “Jerry” Kitchel</image:title>
<image:caption>Secretary of Board Jerry's connection to Foothill Christian School began in 1976 when his wife, Carolyn, started teaching at the Grand Avenue Campus. The couple became members of Foothill Christian Center (now Foothill Church) under Pastor Chris Lewis. Carolyn later served as Vice Principal until her retirement in 2016. With over 35 years of experience in non-profit work, Jerry held senior positions in marketing, advancement, and communication at organizations like World Vision, Union Rescue Mission, and Open Doors U.S.A. He served as Foothill Christian School’s Director of Advancement from 2006 to 2018. In 2014, Jerry helped pioneer the FCS Educational Foundation alongside Superintendent Bo Gutzwiller, with the goal of securing financial support to strengthen school programs and fund campus-wide improvements. Currently, Jerry serves on the senior leadership team of Africa HEART, a ministry dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of HIV-positive mothers and their families in Kenya.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Fine Arts at Foothill Christian School are thriving, with endless opportunities for growth and expansion. Supporting Fine Arts ensures that our students have the resources to pursue excellence in music, performance, and creative expression. From the very start of their education, music appreciation is woven into our elementary curriculum, laying a strong foundation for artistic growth. As students develop their passion, they can explore band, choir, and orchestra, honing their talents and preparing for the next big step—The Audition!</image:caption>

<image:title>Matching Gifts - “Who wouldn’t want to double the impact of their donation? Over 75% of generous people don’t know that they work for companies with matching gift programs (i.e. you donate $1 to FCS, your company donates $1 to FCS, too). Even worse, just 7% of donors who work for matching gift companies successfully submit a matching gift request. Here at FCS Educational Foundation, we know our donors want to maximize their support, but they might not know where to start. Start here!”</image:title>

<image:title>FCS Alumni - 1968 - “Foothill Christian School first opened its doors to welcome elementary school children in September 1964. Our goal at Foothill Christian School is to give the child the finest in private elementary education in a Christ-centered atmosphere. Our Christian teachers help to make this possible by not only developing the academic goals for the child, but by instilling spiritual values as well. It is our aim that each child who attends Foothill Christian School will not only be fully equipped to meet the demands of today’s world, but the future demands as well.”</image:title>

<image:title>FCS Alumni - 1971 - It is with mixed emotions that we bid farewell to our sixth grade graduates. Together we have weathered a variety of experiences. We have known the joys of success and the disappointments of failure. We have laughed together, and we have deliberated in serious situations. All of these comprise life and learning. Our relationships have knit us closely together, and so we reluctantly give up this portion of our Foothill Christian School student body. Many of our paths may never again cross in this life. Yet with great pride we promote this class containing some of the finest students and citizens, and above all, some of the most outstanding Christians, to achieve in more advanced areas. Knowing that our prayers and well wishes follow you, graduates, may you pass from our halls to higher heights and greater challenges. Thanks to the Sixth Grade teacher, Mrs . Soper.”</image:title>

<image:title>FCS Alumni - 1972 - “ Time marches on. Another year has drawn to a close. Another class has passed through our halls. Another group of students has made history never to be repeated under like circumstances. Twelve sixth graders have conscientiously equipped themselves with basic knowledge enabling them to expand on these premises in years to come. Twelve sixth graders face exciting experiences ahead with a foothold grounded in God and His Word which we have faith to believe will anchor them in the years that lie ahead. On such training, teachers have helped build useful lives, first to God, and then to mankind in numerous ways. Of course, Foothill Christian School has provided this and more! Undoubtedly friendships begun here will thrive and blossom into lasting and rich ones. Some will continue education together, while in many instances this is a parting of ways. With a full, proud heart we wish our graduates a fruitful future, and shall always be grateful that we had a small part in molding future ‘greats.’ "In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."</image:title>

<image:title>FCS Alumni - 1973 - “ Thirteen of us sixth graders will receive our diplomas with awe and unbelief. Can it be possible that after seven years of an endless eternity finally this is it? True, school had its times of fun and merry-making, but each of us also had his share of tough assignments. Well, perseverance won out! After all, there's a great deal of learning between reading one sentence picture stories and researching a fifteen page report! What are some of the things we will remember through the years to come? Probably most of all we'll remember our friends who helped keep things Jolly. Friends are great for sharing secrets and problems too! And remember the rainy day recesses we spent in the classroom? We didn't mind them at all. Wonder why our teacher always seemed relieved when things dried enough for us to go out? Strange! Chapel time was really neat too. It gave us a time each week to think about God in a special way. You know, we' 11 really miss ole' Foothill Christian! And, hey, we want to say thanks for the great years you've given us ."</image:title>

<image:title>FCS Alumni - 1975 - “ To the 26 sixth-grade graduates of Foothill Christian School: This yearbook is dedicated to you. The 1975 Challenger goes out from the school's teachers and workers in the hope that through coming years it will call back many memories of fond friendships, of exciting "happenings" and "growing up" experiences . But far greater things than pleasant memories are wished for our fine graduates. We have tried - no doubt rather poorly at times - to place Jesus Christ into the center of every school activity, and we hope into the center of your life . Now we pray that you will take Hirn with you, not just as a sidekick (He sure makes a good sidekick!), but also as your King. Let Him be the person inside, ruling your life. You guys and girls know you are going to leave a big fat hole here at Foothill Christian School. We wi ll miss you. And speaking of holes, remember this - everywhere you go from now on you are likely to find some "holes" - that is, some empty places in people's hearts that you can help fill with kindness and friendliness and goodness. You know, that is a mighty big part of being God's son or daughter. Best wishes in seventh grade. And be sure to pay us a visit every now and then! "</image:title>

We have faith to believe that our teachers and staff have helped to give these young people a solid foundation for building useful lives in serving God and mankind. We hope the '1978 Challenger will bring many happy memories to all our students and give our parents and friends a better acquaintance with the many and varied activities of a child's life in a Christian school, but this is most of all a book of memories so don't forget to use it again and again . <image:title>FCS Alumni - 1994 - “If I used three words to describe Foothill Christian School they would be friends, Christ and teachers. I would use friends to describe the wonderful friendships I have made at Foothill. Next, I would use Christ, because of the relationship Foothill has given me with Jesus Christ. Every school day I had a chance to listen and leam about Christ and His life. Finally, the teachers. Their guidance and understanding have been great. All of them have made a difference in my life. Thank you to all of my friends and teachers for making my many years at Foothill memorable. We've all come at different times to Foothill Christian School. Some in preschool, some in 3 rd grade, even some in 8th grade. We all might say at one time or another, "We're glad to leave, move on, get away," but I believe, inside all of us, that we will miss this place! We felt safe and welcome every day when we came to school. Our teachers cared for us, something special we might never have again. We have friends to turn to when we need help, but some of us may never get to see those c lose friends again as we all move on. But something I think I can say for all of the 8th grade class is that we've all had good times and bad times and times we will never forget. Thank you Foothill Christian School!”</image:title>

<image:title>FCS Alumni - 1980 - A TEACHER'S PRAYER: “ Heavenly Father, help me to teach as Jesus taught - by parable as well as precept, and by example as well as exhortation. Make me a gardener of souls. Teach me Thy truth that I may have precious seed top l ant for Thee. Fill me with Thy compassion that I may water the hard ground with kindness - even with tears --until i t is soft. Help me to love my pupils until their hearts will open wide to receive the seed of the Word. Give me Thy patience to await the time of fruit . Remind me , each time I grow discouraged , that gradual growth is the law of the harvest . Enable me to tend Thy garden well. Make me strong enough to be gentle ; good enough to be kind; concerned enough to be a genuine friend to each of my pupils. Keep me from ever being harsh , lest I pull up the plants with the weeds. Grant that I may be a faithful gardener . Help me to point the tender plants to Thee, the Light of Life and Lord of all that is . And let there be fruit from our garden . Help me to teach as Jesus taught . "</image:title>

<image:title>FCS Alumni - 1981 - “ There are two important purposes in education. The first is INFORMATIVE. It is the communication of information. The second is FORMATIVE. It is the shaping of the person, the forming of character, the development of proper standards of conduct, etc. To educate a child academically and not be concerned about his moral and spiritual training, is to set in motion the beginning of the end of our civilized world. Foothill Christian School places a high priority on forming the student as well as informing, and we are thankful for another year of working with parents in giving their children the kind of well-balanced education in a Christian environment that will prepare them for useful, successful, God-blessed lives in the years to come. . Classroom projects and studies, Rainy days and party days, A home run on the kickball court, A scraped knee on the asphalt. M emories are special moments shared with special people. A smile of encouragement, A prayer at the right time, A secret between friends, An accomplishment shared with classmates. Memories are things of gold that never tarnish with age; only grow dearer. <image:title>FCS Alumni - 1983 - “ There's nothing like a yearbook! These few pages of photographs only capture the highlights of the year's events. Yet as we look at each picture, thrills and experiences begin to unfold as our mind replays the other activities that took place during the year. Unfortunately complete replay of the year cannot be included in this volume. Yet - the pictures included in this little book will help us remember our teachers and friends for the lifetime that awaits us. Every year is different! Every year is special! However, it is so comforting to know that God has special plans for our lives each year. The year 1983 is no different. Years gone by or years to come will never replace the year 1983. As we grow and mature, the Lord reveals exciting new plans for our lives. We rejoice in God's ability to keep our lives full of peace and joy. All we have to do is allow Him to work through us. We are thankful that in 1983 the faculty and staff at FCS played such a huge part in the lives of our students. This was an exciting year! A growing year! A memorable year. Praise the Lord! Finally, we especially want to express our love to the sixth grade students who will be leaving us this year. Many of these students have been with us throughout their entire elementary school career. We have taken them as far as we possibly can. Now we ask that the Lord continue cultivating the seeds that were planted at Foothill Christian School.”</image:title>

<image:title>FCS Alumni - 1984 - “ 1984 has been a year of progress. Foothill Christian School has endured all the hectic construction and we are now enjoying the beauty and benefit of our new facility on Grand Avenue. We are proud of our new building and even though there were many problems and trials along the way, we now know it was well worth all the inconveniences and frustrations. The ministry of FCS can be viewed in much the same manner. We view each of our ·students as a God-given construction project. Throughout the years at FCS, we know that there are times of trouble, failures, mistakes, and frustrations. However, as each corner stone is laid and the individual child develops, we can be assured that lives are being changed for the Glory of God. This yearbook will help you relive those happy moments. Moments that have been captured to reflect many stages of the construction project. We trust that each student has experienced the work of God in their lives during this school year as the result of the ministry of Foothill Christian School. "</image:title>

<image:title>FCS Alumni - 2000 - “ Dear Students, This year we entered a new millennium together. Celebrations around the world included fireworks and special tributes to the defining moments of last year, the last decade and the entire century! We have also spent a lot of time considering what the future holds. What medical cures or discoveries will be made? Just how far and how fast will technology change our lives? Maybe you have imagined how your life will be when you grow up. What career will you choose? How do we handle the unknown times that lie ahead? David, in the Bible (Psalm 3 | : 14- I 5) wrote, "But a s for me, I trust in thee, O Lord, I say, Thou art my God. My times ore in Thy hand..." God has established a season for everything. I t's in His hands. We can not predict the future, let alone control it. But we are promised that..."all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose! " My advice to you as a formula for future success is to live for God and trust Him completely! Because, in reality, all time is in His hands! . "</image:title>

<image:title>FCS Alumni - 2006 - Colossians 3:16-17 16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.</image:title>
